Karaoke McCoistAlly McCoist has warned Dick Foster that he’ll never win a war with furious Sevco fans.

Foster was the subject of abuse from his own supporters during last night’s Petrofec Training Challenge Cup tie with East Fife and got into a running argument during the second half.

The run-in took away some of the shine from the 2-0 victory with McCoist warning the £8,000-a-week star that he won’t win over the boo boys.

“Coming from someone who took his fair share of stick from fans I know arguing with them is a battle you will never win,” the Sevco boss admitted. “But the irony is not lost on me when they get a bit of stick back toys come right out the pram. These things happen, I didn’t see the incident but I will have a word if it’s needed but I don’t really think so.”

While they were booking their place in the last four of the competition Dave King was preparing to walk away with dignity from his latest attempt to invest money in the doomed League One winners.

King sat on the Rangers (IL) board through the last decade of the Dave Murray regime as disastrous decision making forced Murray into selling the institution for £1 to former billionaire Craig Whyte.

King remained a director as the club headed for administration followed by liquidation without attempting to put together a bid of CVA to rescue the club.

The South African based businessman has been waiting in the wings and keeping his powder dry since the formation of Sevco and last week had a meeting with Graham Wallace, who used to work for Manchester City, Philip Nash and chairman David Somers to discuss a bail-out.

While he may be able to convince the directors of his rescue bid it will require 75% of the shareholders voting to dilute their shareholding to allow King and his cohorts in the back door.

That will require a vote at an AGM but with no sign of audited accounts signing the club off as a going concern Mr King’s visit appears to be a waste of time.

Confirming that nothing has changed in the boardroom McCoist last night admitted: “There is no update. It has all gone quiet. I will have a meeting with our chief executive Graham Wallace in the next couple of days.”

Despite being a lifelong fan with the good of the club at heart Mr King is expected to fly home to South Africa tomorrow leaving Sevco to sweat over their audited accounts and how they will meet the November payroll.
