Ronny DeilaAnthony Stokes has been recalled to the Celtic side to face Partick Thistle at the expense of Stefan Scepovic.

The Irishman is one of three changes to the Celtic side that beat Kilmarnock 2-0 on Sunday. Stokes is likely to play wide left leaving John Guidetti as the sole striker.

Mikael Lustig and Charlie Mulgrew both return to the starting XI with Adam Matthews and Wakaso Mubarek dropping down to the bench.

A win over Thistle will see Celtic into the last four of the competition with the semi-finals played on January 31 and February 1.

The young Swede is only on loan until the end of the season but Deila is hoping to strike a permanent deal with Manchester City for the striker.

“It is very important that we have high ambitions,” the Celtic boss said. “I want players who want to be the best. If you play for Celtic you have to have views like that, that you are going to progress and you are going to be as good as you can be.

“John is a fantastic player, a fantastic person, he believes in himself, believes in the team and loves to play at Celtic. So I love it when he is having those thoughts about us.

“I hope everybody here wants to win the treble and of course the Europa League is a very hard task but everything is possible. And you have to believe. If you don’t believe, nothing will happen but we have to take one game at a time and the next is Patrick Thistle on Wednesday and we have to focus on that.”
