Ronny DeilaRonny Deila believes that it was only a matter of time before Celtic smashed someone.

Doubts have been raised about Deila and his methods since Celtic crashed out of the Champions League with the criticism peeking after losing 1-0 at home to Hamilton Accies.

Like most managers the Norwegian turned to statistics to explain the defeat from Hamilton pointing out that Celtic had created more chances in that match than they had in the 6-1 win over Dundee United.

Yesterday the team did their talking on the park with four goals scored in a 25 minute period during the first half that encouraged every supporting watching the action.

“I had a good feeling on the pitch and also in the game,” Deila claimed. “The result is everything, but you can feel if something is growing and we’ve been growing for a long time and this is very good proof that we can do very well in matches as well.

“We smashed them in the first half. It was a high-level performance. We were up for the game and the boys did a fantastic job.

“I was happy about the defence, we didn’t give them anything. We created chances, scored on crosses and had set-pieces on the level we want.”

John Guidetti opened the scoring in the eleventh minute with Anthony Stokes, Callum McGregor and Jason Denayer also on target before the break.

In the second half Stokes completed the scoring with Celtic’s next match coming on Thursday in the Europa League against Astra of Romania

“It’s very pleasing and important to see strikers scoring, we need goals and we’re back on track again.”
