Frail and KennedyCeltic have been drawn against Motherwell in the third round of the SFA Youth Cup.

The young hoops won the trophy for four years running from 2010 to 2013 but went out in the fourth round last year away to St Johnstone.

The competition is for u-19 players with the hoops squad drawn from the Development squad who are mainly in that age group with the tie scheduled for Sunday November 2.

In the Development League Celtic are unbeaten with three wins on the bounce against Dundee, Ross County and Partick Thistle following draws with St Mirren and Dundee United.

Despite last week’s 3-2 win over Partick Thistle coach Stevie Frail was disappointed that the players hadn’t hit the heights they’d shown in the 6-2 win over Ross County in their previous outing.

“We just didn’t play as we as we can and that’s disappointing,” the hoops coach stated. “I don’t think that we really played in the second half, we never got the ball out of defence into the midfield, I never saw much of that.

“Teams will press us but when that happens you have to be brave, work a yard to get space and play through teams to make use of the pace we have up front, we just played it from back to front rather than using the midfield.

“We should have played better, we can play a lot better and if we do that we won’t end up playing backs to the wall. Players need to do more if they want to step up, take more responsibility and make things happen on the pitch, players have to identify what’s going wrong and pick up on it.”

Motherwell have won three and lost two of their five Development League fixtures.
