Kieran Tierney last night scored one of the most amazing goals in Celtic history- with the moment captured by Celtic TV.
With the Develpment League game against Hearts deep into injury time and Celtic leading 2-1 Hearts were awarded a free kick in the centre circle with goalkeeper Scott Gallacher moving up to pitch the ball into the Celtic box.
As the ball was cleared to the edge of the Celtic box Tierney stepped up and let fly with a speculative effort deep into the Hearts half aimed loosely towards the goal.
When the ball dropped out of the Greenock sky Gallacher knew he had a job on his hands as the ball raced towards the goal as all 22 players looked on.
Tierney set off on his celebration and was quickly mobbed by team-mates delighted to win the match and stunned by the skill shown by their team-mate.
In July, Tierney, just after turning 17, appeared for the Celtic first team in the friendly against Spurs, demonstrating that he has caught the attention and earned the respect of the top team management.
Speaking after that match he told the Celtic website: “It was a dream come true but such a shame about the result. At the time, I wasn’t even thinking about the score. All I had in my head was that I was playing for the team that I’ve always loved and supported, and all I wanted to do was work hard for the last half hour.
“I just heard the shout for me to warm up but I just froze. I didn’t know what to feel it was just unbelievable. When you are a wee boy, this is what you dream of. It’s been my life’s ambition and it’s just happened.”
On Sunday Tierney will be back at Cappielow for Celtic’s SFA Youth Cup match against Motherwell, kick-off 2pm.
