BrownScott Brown has revealed that he is already planning for a future in coaching.

The Celtic skipper has just signed a new deal keeping him in Glasgow till 2018 but is already thinking of life in a tracksuit armed with clipboard, cones and bibs.

Broony the coach would amaze some of his former team-mates but is very much in the sights of the midfielder.

I’ve got to look at things like that at my age,” he revealed after signing his new playing deal. “I know I’ve not got 10 or 15 years left in the game. I’m not a silly kid any more. Well, to a point but I want to stay in football and it’s probably the only thing I know how to do.

I could have gone down south and signed a two-year deal and become the forgotten man but I want to finish my B licence and A licence before I retire.

When I was at Hibs Gary Smith was coming towards the end of his career. I remember thinking, ‘You old b*****, imagine being 35 and looking forward to getting into coaching.’ I was like, ‘What are you thinking?’ because I just loved playing football.

But Gary was ahead of his time. He knew it wouldn’t last forever. It’s great I now understand what he was thinking – 10 years later though!”

Brown first captained Celtic under Tony Mowbray and has retained the armband under Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila.
