Craig GordonPeter Lawwell has revealed that Craig Gordon is on a three year contract with Celtic.

The keeper has been in outstanding form since taking over from Fraser Forster after almost three years out of football.

Speaking at the club’s AGM a supporter voiced his concern about the contract status of the former Hearts stopper with Lawwell replying that Gordon is on a three year deal meeting with the relief of the shareholders present.

Chairman Ian Bankier looked ill at ease under questioning about the Living Wage despite an announcement that the club would pay £7.85 per hour (the current Living Wage) to all permanent employees.

Bankier seemed evasive about giving the figure for the number of employees being paid less than the Living Wage but Lawwell later revealed that there were 180 people in that bracket, mainly working in retail.

Manager Ronny Deila perhaps broke ranks voicing his belief that perhaps two players need to be paid outwith the general salary level and made mention to Jason Denayer and John Guidetti being in that situation.

Painfully it was revealed that James McCarthy had a week’s trial as a 16-year-old but was deemed not good enough with Seamus Coleman also not impressing on a trial.

The video presentation before the AGM got underway relied heavily on footage of Guidetti’s goals this season with a lot also made of Virgil van Dijk’s winning goal at Aberdeen.

Lawwell revealed that Guidetti’s agent will be in town for contract talks next week but had no progress to report on a new contract for Kris Commons.

Once again the limitations of playing in Scotland were emphasised with Lawwell claiming that Celtic would be the biggest club in the world if they were given access to the media driven market of English football.

The chief executive also confirmed that talks are ongoing with a group of shareholders and the SFA over granting Rangers (IL) a licence to play in the 2011/12 Champions League qualifiers despite unpaid social taxes of £6m.
