Ally McCoist has repeated his claim that he signed his Rangers (IL) contract without looking at the terms and conditions of the deal.
Last Thursday the fun loving 52-year-old handed in his notice to quit Sevco in 12 months time triggering a 100% pay rise and has played everything by the book since then to protect his pay off.
McCoist was confirmed as manager in February 2011 while Dave Murray was negotiating to get rid of the club for £1 to Craig Whyte.
During his horrendous three and a half year stint in management the former Question of Sport skipper has endorsed Whyte, Charlie Green, Craig Mather and Graham Wallace as the money flowed out the club into his bank account alongwith 100,000 shares for a penny each.
While refusing to explain his reasons for walking away McCoist was keen to get every detail of the hardships he’s suffered across at yesterday’s media conference.
“I worked for nothing for months,” he claimed, a claim that may be disputed by some close to the blue room of dignity. “I decided to take a 45 per cent cut, I then took a 40 per cent cut.
“I’m not saying: “A big pat on the back for Ally” but there’s a wee bit more to it than meets the eye.
“When I signed my contract for Rangers there was no negotiation. Martin Bain put a contract down and I took a pen and signed it. I was just delighted I was getting the job so that’s what I did.
“During the administration period I worked for nothing so there are other factors that should be taken into account as well. I can understand different views and opinions on it but there’s a wee bit more to it.”
It seems that the dirty war of Sevco is well underway with McCoist’s massive earnings likely to be centre stage for some time to come.
