Kieran Tierney Kieran Tierney suffered a broken ankle in training- 24 hours after making the first team substitutes bench for the first time.

The 17-year-old has been the outstanding success in the Development Side this season earning a call up to train with the first team squad.

Playing anywhere along the left-hand side he has stepped up from u-17 football with ease and made a big impression in the Development Side after a few fleeting appearances towards the end of last season.

The extent of the injury has still to be confirmed but is likely to keep him out of action for at least three months.

After starring against Sunderland in the Premier League International Cup he was with the first team squad at Tannadice and also travelled to Zagreb for the final Europa League tie against Dinamo.

In pre-season he played in the friendly against Spurs in Helsink, afterwards he told the Celtic website: “It was a dream come true but such a shame about the result. At the time, I wasn’t even thinking about the score. All I had in my head was that I was playing for the team that I’ve always loved and supported, and all I wanted to do was work hard for the last half hour.

I just heard the shout for me to warm up but I just froze. I didn’t know what to feel it was just unbelievable. When you are a wee boy, this is what you dream of. It’s been my life’s ambition and it’s just happened.”

He added: “You want to do what guys like Liam Henderson or James Forrest have done. They’ve came straight through into the first team from the academy. It’s not easy to come through any academy into the first XI so to see James do it in such a big way gives you hope.

It’s given me a great start but now I want to make my competitive debut. I can only imagine what it feels like to play at Celtic park but that’s what I want to do, that would be something totally different.”
