Sunderland huddle u21Celtic will face Villarreal in their final Premier League International Cup tie at Dartford on January 21, kick off 7pm.

A win will definitely take Celtic into the last eight of the competition while a draw should be enough after a win over Sunderland and a draw at Everton.

The 16 team tournament is aimed at providing an international dimension to the development of players with Celtic one of eight non-English clubs invited to take part.

The top two teams in each group will go forward to the quarter-finals which are due to be played in February with Chelsea, Athletic Bilbao and Leicester City currently topping their groups as well as Celtic.

All matches have to be played at English grounds with the 4,100 capacity Princes Park Dartford providing a big contrast to Goodison Park and The Stadium of Light.

Dates have still to be scheduled for Everton’s games against Sunderland and Villarreal with Sunderland drawing 0-0 with Villarreal in the only other fixture played in Group D.

The matches against English opposition has brought out the best in Celtic’s development side who are deserving of their place at the top of Group D after impressive displays at Everton and Sunderland.

Filip Twardzik opened the scoring at Everton but the home side equalised midway through the second half while a well taken double from Leigh Griffiths allowed Celtic to take full points from Sunderland after being a goal down at half time.

Princes Park is less than half a mile from the M25 and a 10-15 minute walk from Dartford town centre.
