Bolton Wanderers - Neil Lennon Press ConferenceNeil Lennon has revealed how a few days with Brendan Rodgers fired up his coaching ambitions.

The 2009/10 season is unlikely to feature among the highlights of either man’s career with Rodgers struggling and sacked by Reading while Lennon was an outsider at Celtic under Tony Mowbray before being thrown in as caretaker manager.

During his time on the outside Lennon paid a visit to Reading with the conversations with his fellow Irishman as beneficial as looking on at the training sessions.

“I had a couple of days with him when he was at Reading and I really enjoyed it,” the former Celtic boss said ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at Anfield. “He talked about his coaching days at Chelsea and about his own ideas on the game.

“He was so methodical in his preparation, but his training sessions were brilliant. I still use some of them now, but don’t tell him, I don’t know if he has the copyright on them!

“It didn’t go well for him at Reading. But Swansea was a great success and he’s gone on to do brilliant things at Liverpool.”

Looking at tomorrow’s match which will see 4,000 Bolton fans plus Emile Heskey make the trip to Anfield Lennon added:It’s a great game to look forward to and we can really relish the challenge. The whole club is getting a taste of being back in the big time.”

Bolton playmaker Lee Chung-yong, who has six months left on his contract, is I talks over a £1.5m move to Crystal Palace.
