spflStephen Pearson has re-joined Motherwell- 10 years after leaving Fir Park to join Celtic.

The 32-year-old has signed until the end of the season and is in line to feature against Celtic on tomorrow night if clearance comes through from Indian side Kerala Blasters.

Martin O’Neill paid Motherwell £350,000 to sign the midfielder who spent four years in the hoops before leaving for Derby County for £750,000 in January 2007 scoring the play-off winning goal that took the Rams into the Premier League.

“I am delighted to be back, I’ve got great memories of this place from the past,” Pearson told the Motherwell website.

“It’s a great club and I am thrilled to rejoin and hopefully help the club push up the table.

“I’ve been playing regularly for the last few months and feel fit. I have trained with the lads not only during the summer but over the last week and I am just desperate to get involved now.”

Motherwell are locked in a relegation battle sitting in third bottom place in the SPFL, three points clear of St Mirren and six ahead of bottom placed Ross County.

New manager Ian Baraclough is keen to bring in new faces during the transfer window after taking over from Stuart McCall last month.

The Fir Park side face Celtic on the back of defeats from Hamilton Accies, Aberdeen and Dundee and had Saturday’s home match with Kilmarnock postponed due to the weather.

Baraclough won the League of Ireland title with Sligo Rovers in 2013 and has been linked with a move for former Celt Richie Towell of Dundalk.
