Beram KayalBeram Kayal has said goodbye and thanks to the Celtic support.

The midfielder was one of Neil Lennon’s first signings in the summer of 2010 and left the hoops to join Brighton last week.

Kayal made his Celtic debut in the 2-0 Europa League win against Utrecht in August 2010 and appeared in his final match against 131 appearances in November as a substitute in the 2-1 SPFL win over Dundee.

Using facebook he announced: “I would like to thank the Celtic fans for the tremendous support they gave me throughout my time with the club.

“They are amazing fans, committed to the team and they were incredibly supportive to me all through my time in Glasgow.

“Coming to a new country, that support was huge for me and I now have many great friends and good memories from my time playing in the famous green-and-white hoops.

“I will see them all soon. I will be back to watch Celtic in the future – as the club will always be in my heart – and I wish everybody at the club the very best for the future.

“For now it is time to begin a new chapter in my career with Brighton & Hove Albion, and I am very much looking forward to playing for the supporters here in Brighton.”

During his time at Celtic he played a big part in kick-starting the club towards winning the 2011/12 title but never fully recovered from a brutal attack from Lee McCulloch in December 2011.

That injury and the emergence of Victor Wanyama meant that the early promise was never realised in a Celtic shirt.
