Darren O'DeaBlackpool are hoping to secure Darren O’Dea on a deal through to the end of the season.

The former Celtic defender joined the club in December on a short term deal and has played in Blackpool’s last four matches including Sunday’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat away to Aston Villa.

O’Dea has helped bring some relative stability to the Blackpool defence with just three goals lost in three matches following the 6-1 hammering from Bournemouth before Christmas.

Lee Clarke has his hands full trying to turn the club around after taking over in November but is hopeful of getting another deal together for O’Dea.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette he said: “O’Dea’s contract has come to an end and we are in talks as we speak. We are hopeful a deal can be done.”

While Clark is hopeful of keeping hold of O’Dea a new contract for Jamie O’Hara seems less likely.

The former Spurs and Wolves midfielder has had a torrid time off the park but his performances for Blackpool have impressed other clubs in the Championship.

Jamie has been a terrific player for us,” Clark added. “He hit the ground running and his levels of consistency have been really high.

He’s a player I want to keep without a shadow of a doubt. I’m confident we can. I know Jamie wants to stay here.

He’s enjoying his football after a tough time before he came here, he’s always had the talent and I think he’s enjoying himself.”
