red cardSt Mirren are believed to have demanded talks with the SFA over the standard of refereeing.

The Paisley side have had two red cards rescinded in recent weeks and were again at odds with officials yesterday.

Gary Teale was convinced that Dundee’s first goal was offside and incensed over the second yellow card issued to Yoann Arquin by Stevie McLean.

The first goal was offside,” the caretaker St Mirren manager said. “I’ve seen the pictures back again and how they can keep getting these decisions wrong beggars belief.

“Again, I’ve seen (the Arquin incident) and I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but James McPake stood on his foot and it was obviously enough to put him off balance and he went down.

“I’m not sitting here saying it was pre-empted, but I thought his other booking was very soft as well.

“Is that because we had the red card rescinded last week? I don’t know. It’s a very cynical view to take, but when you’re looking back on it again you can understand my frustrations.

“You can’t appeal it because it was two yellows, you just need to take it on the chin, but decisions have cost us in a lot of games.

“I don’t want to hide behind the fact that we could have defended the two goals better, and if we had taken the opportunities that we had, then maybe we wouldn’t be sitting here talking about it.”

After losing to two penalties in the new year game against Kilmarnock Teale was equally unhappy with Willie Collum.

“I told the referee I was embarrassed that he gave us the penalty at the end,” he said. “That was a token gesture as I didn’t think it was a penalty, and neither were either of the Killie ones.

“The decision to send Kenny McLean off was a massive one as well. He makes those calls in a split second and he obviously thought he got them right. I think he got them wrong.

“I’m sitting here with another defeat on my record and that’s not going to help me or my chance to get this job.”
