gazeboFelix Magath is the latest non-billionaire backing the Sevco rescue package.

The legendary former Fulham manager has splashed out almost £200,000 to buy shares from one of the original investors desperate to dump toxic stock in the crisis hit club.

Magath is keen to work with basketball supremo Robert Sarver, the Three Rebel Bears, Mike Ashley, Dave King and others to ensure the survival of the Ibrox side.

After being sacked by Fulham following four straight defeats after being relegated from the Premiership Magath is keen to get back involved in football and is looking o link up with Ally McCoist who is currently on gardening leave.

Looking back on Fulham’s relegation defender Brede Hangerland said: “He’s very difficult to work with.

“He’s a very strict manager and his main tool is to try to mentally and physically batter his players and hopefully get some results out of that.

“Is that the right fit for English football? I don’t think so. I thought rather than help us try to avoid relegation he made things worse.”

Mixing the retail strength of Mr Ashley, the sporting success of Mr Sarver, the local knowledge of the Rebel Bears with Magath’s footballing background is viewed by several observers as an unstoppable package.

It’s believed that Sevco need £6.5m to see them through to the end of January with a number of finance packages available to the board with more investors lined up to pump further money into the project.

Magath has been working on a meister-plan to mix the passion of Borussia Dortmund with the business sense of Bayern Munich and although he failed spectacularly at Fulham he is keen to bounce back into front line management.

Prior to the Fulham job Magath had been out of management since being sacked by Wolfsburg in March 2012.

With no announcement to the Alternative Investment Market this morning investors are keeping a close watch on developments as the club prepares to enter a new financial era.
