With Aberdeen dropping points for the second consecutive match Celtic strengthened their lead at the top of the SPFL with a 1-0 win over Ross County on Saturday.
Highlights of the match are unlikely to gain centre stage in the end of season DVD but any points dropped in Dingwall would have provoked a storm of protest.
It took a deflected shot from Kris Commons to secure the points but when a team defends in depth they always run the risk of losing such a goal.
With Anthony Stokes and Stefan Johansen injured Liam Henderson and John Guidetti returned to the starting XI with the Swede handed the sole striker role as Griffiths moved to the right.
Starting his first game since the turn of the year Guidetti looked sluggish and struggled to show the autumn sharpness which fired Celtic to a run of eight back-to-back wins as they hit the top of the table.
Without doubt Ronny Deila’s biggest decision this week will be over which striker starts Sunday’s League Cup semi-final.
Valid cases can be made for and against Guidetti, Griffiths and Stefan Scepovic with only the Norwegian knowing the answer to that question.
Despite the nature of the Hampden clash Deila will remain focussed on the training ground taking advantage of a full week of preparation to get his side ready for a game where defeat can’t be considered.
“In this game there aren’t going to be too many passes in the first 15 minutes,” Deila said. “It’ll be intense but after a while things open up and then hopefully our quality will allow us to win the game.
“It’s important that we play the match, not the occasion. That is so important, because we win through good football and we know there are going to be things around the match which are different to what we are used to.”
