spflSevco boss Kenny McDowall was delighted to see his side take a point from fellow play-off hopefuls Falkirk last night.

The draw leaves the Ibrox side in third place- five points ahead of Falkirk- but gives Hibs the chance to go four points clear in second place if Alan Stubbs side win at Alloa this afternoon.

Daz McGregor opened the scoring for Sevco midway through the first half but former Rangers (IL) prospect Rory Loy equalised soon after.

“I look at it as a point gained tonight,” caretaker McDowall said. “This is not an easy place to come, it was never going to be a given. So to get away with a point I feel we will move on and take the next game as it comes. There are still a lot of games to go.

“In the first half we were not up to the par we have been playing at. The second half was better, but we still didn’t do enough to win the game.”

The feel good factor from last week’s win at Raith Rovers, on the back of an impressive display in the 2-0 defeat from Hibs, quickly evaporated as Falkirk’s passing game left the visitors toiling.

Wonder boy Andrew Murdoch, already on the radar of big spending Brentford, and Newcastle loanee Haris Vuckic were substituted late in the game as Sevco hung on for a draw.

“I was disappointed with our passing in the first half,” McDowall added. “Obviously the pitch plays a part in that for us. That is not an excuse as it is one of the better ones, but on a night like this with rain and when the pitch is slick, that can be tricky to get to grips with.

“You can see the Falkirk lads train on it every day and are well used to the pace of it.”

“In the last couple of games we have been doing much better, especially in the last third. We have been creating a lot of chances and maybe not taking them, but tonight I felt in the last third we were not sharp and the final ball was not as good as it has been.”
