uefaInter Milan are facing a UEFA signing ban after running up incredible debts of €180M!

A number of Italian media sources have highlighted the issue of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules that could see Inter hit with a fine, have UEFA prize money withheld or be given a transfer ban.

According to UEFA rules clubs are only allowed to run up €45m of debt over a three year period but Inter have run up four times that amount over through failing to reach the Champions League.

Speaking at Friday’s Europa League draw Gianni Infantino said: “This rule aims at ensuring the long-term viability of football clubs in Europe and ensuring they do not spend more than they earn. The objective is not to punish clubs but to help clubs.”

Liverpool were yesterday cleared of breaching FFP rules but further investigations will be carried out into Inter and Monaco.

Roberto Mancini has already found his budget curtailed forcing Inter to take Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski on loan rather than buy the players outright.

Inter have agreed a €15M deal with Bayern Munich to sign Shaqiri in the summer but a signing ban or the failure to cut their debt could see the Swiss internationalist returned to Germanyat the end of the season with Inter unable to.

At the start of the season FK Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) were banned from the Champions League qualifiers as a result of having breached various financial rules including having unpaid social taxes.

A UEFA statement read: “The Adjudicatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB), chaired by José Narciso da Cunha Rodrigues, has taken its decision in the case of FK Crvena zvezda. The CFCB chief investigator referred this case to the Adjudicatory Chamber in early April after becoming aware of the existence of overdue payables as a result of a complaint.

The CFCB Adjudicatory Chamber determined that the club were in breach of a number of provisions of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations. Accordingly, Crvena zvezda are excluded from participating in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League for which they had qualified on sporting merit.”
