Aleksandr TonevStefan Scepovic, Aleksandar Tonev, Liam Henderson and Callum McGregor are all in the Celtic development side to face Falkirk tonight, kick off 7pm.

Three nights before the Europa League clash with Inter Milan Ronny Deila will give the first team quartet the chance to impress.

The Norwegian is spoiled for choice in the middle of the park with the arrivals of Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong adding to the competition for places.

With five overage players (over 20-years-of-age) the Development League is increasingly looking like the old reserve league giving players on the fringes of the first team the chance to improve match fitness and improve fitness.

Scepovic has played a number of games in the Development League this season and scored from the penalty spot in last week’s 2-0 win over Partick Thistle.

That match was played on the plastic pitch of Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium, as was the previous week’s 3-0 win over Dunfermline with tonight’s outing against Falkirk taking place on the grass of Cappielow.

Other than a 0-0 draw away to Dundee Celtic’s Development Side have been on an impressive winning run but have got their work cut out to catch up with Hamilton Accies at the top of the table.

Hamilton are sitting at the top of the table 18 points ahead of the hoops and although Celtic have got five games in hand it’ll be a tall order to overturn that lead.

Next Monday Celtic play Hamilton in the SFA Youth Cup with the winner earning a place in the semi-final of the competition.
