Robbie_Thomson[1]Former Celt Robbie Thomson bounced back from the darkest afternoon of his career to keep the Sevco sharpshooters at bay and hand Cowdenbeath a precious Championship point.

Last Saturday Thomson lost TEN goals to Hearts at Tynecastle as the Fife club became the butt of jokers across the country.

Kenny Miller, Kris Boyd and Nicholas Clark led the line for Sevco today with Jon Daly and Dean Shiels thrown on in the second half to no avail.

After dealing with a few early chances Thomson and his defenders coped comfortably with the visitors firepower before dominating the second half.

Thomson was a member of Celtic’s 2011 and 2012 double winning youth sides and joined Cowdenbeath in the summer after a season with Rochdale.

A day after the joyful coronation of Dave King at Ibrox 3,244 fans packed into Fife’s premium stock car racing stadium to see the opening chapter of the new regime with Cowdenbeath expected to be on the end of another hammering.

While Kenny McDowall’s side enjoyed the luxury of the state-of-the-art Murray Park Training Academy Jimmy Nicholl had the task of lifting the spirits of his part-timers.

My job now is to lift them,” the ‘beath boss said after the heavy defeat at Tynecastle. “I’m really disappointed for everyone associated with the club because it is embarrassing to lose a football match by those sort of figures.

We need to have a serious look at ourselves on Monday and get lifted again. We don’t want Rangers coming next week thinking it is going to be a cakewalk because of what happened at Tynecastle.

It’s how you react. It’s how I react and how the players react against Rangers.”

Thomson had one save to make with loan bhoy John Herron also starring in the Cowdenbeath midfield.
