Efe AmbroseRonny Deila highlighted the contribution of Efe Ambrose following Celtic’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen.

Injuries to Emilio Izaguirre and Charlie Mulgrew saw Ambrose pressed into action at left-back- for the first time in his Celtic career.

After an impressive start to his Celtic career the Nigerian’s casual approach to defending has caused alarm among supporters but Deila was delighted by the defenders display.

“He’s a good defender and he knows his role,” the Celtic manager explained. “He is developing as a player and he needs to be more concentrated, but he did that today.

“We use the squad all the time and it’s a big test for us on Wednesday. To come through two important games and now we have a normal game, if I can say that, and it’s so important to win that game.”

After a sluggish start to the match Celtic took control when Jason Denayer headed the opener in the 37th minute.

Once Leigh Griffiths doubled the lead just past the hour mark the game was over as a contest with Celtic looking likely to score every time they crossed the halfway line.

Gary Mackay-Steven and Stefan Johansen completed the scoring with Deila pleased with the professional way that his side went about their business.

“Mentally, we showed we are the best team,” the Celtic boss added. “We have a focus on developing all the time and we’re going to use every game this season to be as good as possible and hopefully get the treble.”
