leigh griffiths teacakeUp until James Forrest found the St Mirren net there was only one talking point about Celtic’s trip to Paisley.

While keeping an eye out for the coaching team as he reached for his Tunnock’s teacake Leigh Griffiths couldn’t have imagined that the cameras of BT Sport were looking in on the away dugout.

Using the same precision that he normally puts away a half chance in the penalty box the hoops striker had the wrapper off, scoffed the biscuit and disposed of the evidence before anyone in the dugout noticed.

Unfortunately for Griffiths the incident was all over twitter with the Uddingston based baker enjoying priceless advertising.

With Celtic winning 2-0 and the former Hibs man spending the 90 minutes on the bench it was all laughs afterwards as Ronny Deila heard about Griffiths’ indiscretion.

“A chocolate biscuit? I think it was a carbo biscuit, which is totally different!” the Celtic boss joked.

Griffiths team-mates were quickly brought upto speed about the substitute’s indiscretion with a special present from the kitman waiting on the coach back to Celtic Park.

Tweeting on the journey Griffiths said: Cold night, 3 points and moving further away, on to Wednesday now. btw the tea cake was magic!”

Looking at the events on the pitch Deila said: “St Mirren were well organised and played very deep. They fought hard, it was difficult to break them down.

“We had to be patient. We had chances in the first half but in the second half we got bigger spaces and our first goal was how I want us to score – ?opposite movements and triangles. It was a good goal.

“That opened the game up. I don’t think St Mirren had a chance in the game.”
