Stevie McLeanSteven McLean has been left out of this week’s SPFL refereeing appointments.

The Grade A referee has been appointed as fourth official for the match between Hamilton Accies and Motherwell as Celtic await an explanation from the SFA over McLean’s performance in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Inverness Caley Thistle.

McLean has refereed 15 Scottish games since the turn of the year, taking charge of a match every weekend with the exception of the international week at the end of March.

John Beaton, Craig Thomson, Crawford Allan, Don Robertson, Kevin Clancy and Willie Collum will take charge of this weekends Premiership matches with Collum in the middle for Celtic’s trip to Tannadice.

McLean will be joined at New Douglas Park by assistant referee Frank Connor, who was the North Stand side assistant referee at Hampden on Sunday.

Alan Muir, who was the official closest to Josh Meekings handball from Leigh Griffiths’ header will take charge of the League One match between Peterhead and Airdrie.

Following the events at Hampden Celtic issued a statement saying: “WITH the Club being inundated today, Celtic can confirm that it has written to the SFA regarding yesterday’s match and in particular the incident involving Leigh Griffiths and Josh Meekings.

“First and foremost we absolutely congratulate Inverness Caledonian Thistle on reaching the Scottish Cup final. They are a fantastic club and reaching the final is a great achievement.

“However, given the level of reaction from our supporters and across football, we are duty bound to seek an understanding of what actually happened.

“We have not been given any other specific explanation so far and this is simply to understand the circumstances of what went on and why such an obvious error was made.”
