Liam HendersonLiam Henderson celebrated his 19th birthday with two goals for Rosenborg in their 4-1 win over Viking Stavanger tonight.

The birthday bhoy replaced Fredrik Midtsjo in the 80th minute with the score at 2-1 and immediately made a big impression- scoring in the 82nd and 86th minutes.

The win coupled with Odd’s home draw with Mjondalen lifted Rosenborg into a three way tie at the top of the table with Kare Ingebrigsten’s side ahead on goal difference with 16 goals in 4 matches.

Speaking after the match Henderson said: “It is absolutely fantastic. I have received many text messages of friends who hoped I would score today so it was nice to do it. The main thing is that we win and we got three points and can go home satisfied.

Three weeks into his loan move the midfielder said: “I think it has gone smoothly so far. I just have to keep working hard and learn from players like Mike Jensen, Fredrik Midtsjo and Ole Selnaes. I think they are wonderful and I will continue to learn from them.”

Henderson also scored for Rosenborg in the midweek cup win over Vukuwith manager Ingebrigsten delighted with the impact of his loan signing.

He’s a kid who came in late in our squad and that has really helped on the pitch and in the dressing room,” the Rosenborg boss said. “He’s very young and ambitious and is a great addition to our squad.”

On Thursday Rosenborg host Start before a top of the table clash away to Odd on Sunday.
