Emilio IzaguirreEmilio Izaguirre faces three more international matches in his marathon season- before a 20 day break to prepare for the Gold Cup.

The Celtic defender started the current season in Iceland on July 15 as Celtic started their European campaign. Fifty-eight Celtic appearances later he is back home preparing for Sunday’s match with El Salvadoor before travelling to face Paraguay (June 6) and Brazil (June 10).

Following a 20 day break Honduras then host Mexico on June 30 before their opening Gold Cup clash against the United States on July 8. Panama and Haiti make up the group with the matches taking place in Dallas, Boston and Kansas City.

That schedule will mean that Izaguirre, who finished last season at the World Cup in Brazil, will miss out on Celtic’s pre-season training and the second round Champions League qualifier in mid-July.

While Celtic’s season finished last Sunday with the raising of the Premiership trophy the majority of Ronny Deila’s squad will be on international duty for another fortnight.

Scott Brown, Leigh Griffiths and Charlie Mulgrew will be part of the Scotland squad that travels to Dublin where they will face Ireland on June 13 with Anthony Stokes in the Irish squad. The previous day Adam Matthews will face up to Jason Denayer as Wales host Belgium in Cardiff.

Further afield Nir Bitton will be on duty for Israel away to Bosnia on June 12 with Norway, including Stefan Johansen at home to Azerbaijan.

Next summer’s European Championships in France will be staged from 10 June through to 10 July.
