Dave King Hard up Sevco could be hit with a costly bill from some of the 11 stars axed at the end of last season!

The players’ contracts ran until May 31 and entitled them to 35 days holiday pay. Sevco played their last game of the season on May 31 at Fir Park with the players effectively dumped onto the scrapheap the next day.

A week later Dave King delivered a scathing attack on the players stating that none would be offered new contracts after failing to deliver promotion.

Legends such as Kris Boyd, Lee McCulloch, Ian Black and Stevie Smith weren’t even afforded a thank-you or statement on the company website despite steering the club to back-to-back promotions as well as reaching the final of the 2014 Ramsdens Cup where they went down in extra-time to Raith Rovers.

This morning it emerged that the players had contacted PFA Scotland to fight for their 35 days holiday pay. With their season extended and clubs back in training before June was up the new pioneers were denied a break before having to find new clubs.

With McCulloch, Boyd and Black picking up an aggregate of over £30,000 a week forking out for 35 days holiday pay could have a major impact on Mark Warburton’s transfer war-chest.

Sevco are still paying full wages to Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall with both men currently on gardening leave.

Former goalkeeper Neil Alexander is also in dispute for bonus money agreed on his Rangers contract before he agreed to TUPE over to Sevco.

After 18 days in charge Mr Warburton has only signed up two first team stars, Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan, to replace the 11 who walked away.
