Toshney-IrvineRoss County are keen to take Jackson Irvine back to Dingwall.

The Australian spent last season on loan at Ross County but still has a year to run on his Celtic contract.

At 22 years of age Irvine’s career is at a critical stage with first team football highly unlikely at Celtic with a long list of players battling for midfield places.

Derek Adams signed Irvine for the Dingwall side a year ago with his successor Jim McIntyre hoping to tie up a new deal.

“We’ve spoken to Jacko and will hopefully have a decision about that in a few days,” the County boss said after snapping up Dick Foster on a two year deal after his Sevco contract expired.

Irvine has been at Celtic for five years and has progressed through the international ranks with Australia and is hoping to earn a place at next summer’s Olympic Games in Brazil.

Former Celtic keeper Scott Fox is among McIntyre’s close season signings with Marcus Fraser signing a two year contract once County had secured their place in the top flight.

Ross County kick off the new season visiting Celtic Park on August 1 hoping to pick up on the impressive form that took them clear of the relegation places despite looking doomed at Christmas time.

While Irvine waits to see where his next move will be Holmbert Fridjonsson has completed a move to KR Reykjavic who played Celtic in last season’s Champions League qualifiers.
