Alan Stubbs Alan Stubbs has hit out at the Ibrox ambassadors over the campaign to lure Scott Allan to the financially crippled Championship favourites.

Since Paul Murray whispered in the ear of the London Times about how wonderful it would be to have the midfielder at Ibrox former players have been climbing out of the woodwork to advice Allan about the wonders of a move along the M8.

Charlie Miller used the second round draw of the Petrofac Cup to reveal: “If a player wants to leave, he can just go, effectively. Look at Raheem Sterling. OK, he went for 49 million quid, but it shows that players hold all the aces now.”

Sevco’s third bid for Allan is believed to have been £48,725,000 less than the fee that Liverpool accepted for Sterling.

Barry Ferguson, Bob Malcolm and Mark Hateley have all gone public with their free advise that Hibs should just hand the player over and get on with life taking their lead from Paul Murray who like his chairman Dave King hasn’t invested a penny in the club he draws a wage from.

Speaking about Allan a month ago the borders banker told The Times: “He’s obviously under contract with someone else so we can’t talk about him in too much detail but we should be seeking to identify players to our team and our squad and bring them in and add further value to them through what we do here.

It’s like manufacturing where you take the raw material in, add value to it and get a finished product.

Scott Allan is an example of a player I personally think is a very good player. His profile is right as a young guy with a lot of potential. He has played quite a lot of football.”

After being constantly questioned on the matter Stubbs had his say yesterday as he prepared for the league campaign to get underway.

The publicity has been one-sided, it’s been as if we would give in, the Hibs boss stated. I see lots of ambassadors for Rangers have managed to speak about it.

We’ve been very clear from day one, our stance is that we will not do business with Rangers and that will be the same on September 1.

Maybe they don’t realise how serious we are and we’ve said it for the sake of it. Some people may think that automatically we should say, ‘Okay, you can go’.

I don’t think people have respected our position as a football club. I think people think what we’re doing is wrong.

You don’t sell your best players to a rival football club. You don’t let your best people go to a rival business unless you’re silly. I might be missing a point, I don’t know.”

Meanwhile Celtic are believed to be preparing a £2m take-it-or-leave-it bid to Champions League rivals Paris St Germain for unhappy striker Zlatan Imbrahimovic who has privately told the French champions that he is prepared to sign a pre-contract agreement in January with his boyhood heroes if they refuse to grant him his dream move.

The GASL on his victorious take over, 20 million and upwards investment anyway, I’d rather over invest in playing staff, than under invest.
