Loch Lomond TrophyCeltic’s u-17 side made it three wins in seven days with a 2-0 league win over St Mirren at Barrowfield today.

Goals in either half from Lewis Bell and Jack Aitchison gave the hoops full points to follow on from wins against Kilmarnock in the league and Partick Thistle in the Glasgow Cup.

St Mirren matched Celtic in many areas over the 90 minutes with Aitchison’s goal in the 86th minute finally killing off their hopes.

The match was scheduled for tomorrow but brought forward 24 hours with seven Celtic players heading to Romania tomorrow on international duty.

Ross Doohan replaced Conor Hazard in goals with Grant Thorburn making an impressive return at left-back after more than a year out through injury.

There was an early blow for Celtic when Ross McLaughlin was stretchered off with ankle ligament damage with Dan McAllister coming off the bench.

A quick turn and shot from Aitchison midway through the first half almost found the net before Bell opened the scoring for the second week running.

Picking up a loose ball 30 yards from goal the midfielder took a couple of paces forward then drilled in a low shot from just outside the penalty box.

St Mirren enjoyed a few half chances midway through the second half before a powerful run by Thorburn down the left ended with an inviting low ball across goal that Aitchison converted at the back post in the 86th minute.

Aitchison had the ball in the net from similar circumstances two minutes later but his strike was ruled out for offside.

CELTIC: Doohan; Bowyers, Deas, Duffy, Thorburn; Bell, McLaughlin (McAllister); Watson (Mearns), Johnston, Antoniazzi (Diver); Aitchison
