Jackie-McNamara-PTFCSky Sports and the BBC have reported that Jackie McNamara has been removed as manager of Dundee United.

Chairman Stephen Thompson is said to have made the move following today’s 2-1 defeat away to ten man St Johnstone.

The exact nature of the decision has still to be determined with the likelihood being that McNamara will be put on gardening leave until a settlement package is agreed.

United travel to face bottom of the table Partick Thistle next Saturday knowing that a defeat will leave them at the foot of the Premiership.

A year ago McNamara was one of the most highly rated managers in the Scottish game having taken the club to the Scottish Cup final and sold off Ryan Gauld and Andrew Robertson for £5m.

At the end of January United beat Aberdeen at Hampden to reach the League Cup Final but within 48 hours of that result Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven were sold to Celtic.

The anger of United fans was split between McNamara and Thompson with the spotlight falling on the manager after news was leaked that he received a bonus from the sale of players.

From that moment on McNamara seemed to be on borrowed time with the summer sale of Nadir Ciftci to Celtic not backed up by any sort of reinvestment in the squad.

As well as dealing with McNamara Thomson will have to strike deals with coaches Simon Donnelly and Darren Jackson.

Having basked in the glory of two cup finals and seeing the club rake in over £8m in transfer fees the spotlight will now be on te Tannadice board to come up with a manager that can improve on the achievents of former Celt McNamara.

Wee Jackie gets fired for not being able to get anything from 2/3 of games played. He was managing a third rate club who set him up to fail.
Yet we have Deila who has failed to win 1/3 of games played, more if you count Europe, and we hang on to this failure!
Deila in trusted with charge of what used to be the best club in Europe!
    What’s wrong with this picture?

Keep the head folks It is quite apparent that Ronnie couldn’t give to sits about these games. He wants to progress in Europe and if drawing with Hearts once in a dragon and losing to Aberdeen one is what it takes them fine. Once Aberdeen are 15 points clear then perhaps we should worry.

Well as a Celtic supporter Andy, I care a lot. You just can’t hide the fact that Deila is way out of his depth at a team the size of Celtic. His team selections are at best crap and his insistence on playing one up front even against the lowest teams in the SPFL is embarassing and certainly not playing football “The Celtic Way”.
Sooner we get rid of him the better for us all.

      Hail Hail!
