Lennon Rugby ParkJohan Mjallby is to step down as assistant manager to Neil Lennon at Bolton Wanderers.

The Swede first teamed up with the Irishman in March 2010 when the Lennon was put in charge of Celtic on a caretaker basis following the disastrous reign of Tony Mowbray.

Mjallby announced his departure before Lennon resigned as Celtic manager but was reunited with his former team-mate when Lennon took charge of Bolton last November.

After today’s 2-0 win over Wolves it was suggested that Mjallby was leaving with the news confirmed by Marc Iles of the Bolton News.

Local speculation seems to suggest that former Bolton midfielder Alan Thompson could be drafted in but after his exit from Celtic in 2012 that would seem unlikely.

Within weeks of celebrating winning the SPL title at Kilmarnock Lennon found himself in the position of dismissing his first team coach.

After over a decade together working under Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan the relationship between both men came to a halt although they met up again last season with Thompson assisting Lee Clark at Birmingham and Blackpool.

Following his side’s first win of the season today Lennon said: “I am more relived than anything else. I’ve not had a run like that in my career either playing or managing.

“It’s been a very frustrating time. But I thought the way we were playing, we could turn things around. I felt we deserved to win.

Their penalty was soft and changed the psychology of the game for a while but in the last 15 minutes we created some great chances to put the game beyond Wolves again, particularly on the counter-attack.

“However, overall it is very satisfying though we have played better and lost. Our first-half performance was very strong and some of our play was excellent.”

    Can’t train concentration.

Worst defence since I started supporting in 65, by playing or bringing on Ambrose you guarantee the opposition a goal, zonal marking my arse, I could cry at the defending its school boy at best, absolutely shocking

  • Redmond says:

Ambrose is the worst player I’ve ever seen in the hoops… Worse than Muggleton, Biggins, Scheidt… Ronny picking him is making me question his abilities…

Time for major surgery the plasters are not working Ronny failia and his backroom staff week in week say that they are learning about our mistakes but we are still leaking goals ,getting caught in possession of the ball going sideways and backwards ,it is not nice to watch. And on a purely personal point how on earth does golden boy Johansen get a game in front of Commons .I attend the games home and away and have been watching Celtic since the 50 s and I’ve see some duds in my time and golden boy is up there way overrated and definitely not a Celtic man

  • Gordon says:

Haven’t we been through this mess before at the beginning of last season and Ronny pulled us together and won the league and wasn’t Johansen integral to that? Do agree Commo should be first name on the team sheet, the more he plays the better he gets! Zonal marking is nonsense and time and time again the goals we are losing or more to the point giving away shows that. Come on Celts sort yourselves out!
