Josh KerrJosh Kerr has become the latest Celtic player to go out on loan- joining Lowland League outfit East Kilbride.

With Jamie McCart, Fiacre Kelleher and Jack Breslin competing for two central defensive places in the Development League side Kerr has been given the opportunity to get regular first team football.

Kerr was a first pick for last season’s Celtic under 17 side and crowned his season with the opening goal in last season’s 2-0 Glasgow Cup Final win over Sevco at Hampden.

As part of a Development loan players can be recalled to play to play in midweek matches at their parent club.

East Kilbride finished last season second to Edinburgh City with the league winners facing a play-off against the Highland League champions for the prize of a play-off place against the bottom side in League Two.

Celtic have formed close ties with the club which was founded in 2010 playing pre-season friendlies in each of the last two seasons with the Celtic ladies side playing their home matches at the K Park in Calderglen Country Park.

In a clear change of plan to previous seasons Celtic now have 10 players out on loan.

Down south Eoghan O’Connell made his League One debut on Saturday as Oldham lost at home to Bradford City.

In the Scottish Premiership Stewart Findlay is on loan at Kilmarnock, Darnell Fisher has joined St Johnstone with the bulk of the loan Celts playing in the Championship.

Paul McMullan has been one of St Mirren’s top players, Michael Duffy and Connor McManus are together at Alloa Athletic with Calum Waters and Jamie Lindsay featuring for Dumbarton while Liam Henderson is chasing promotion with Hibs.

Two flights down Tony Ralston has been getting good reviews playing at right-back for Queens Park.
