A second minute header from Stefan Scepovic against Malaga gave Getafe their first win of the season.
The on loan striker took no time to announce his arrival at the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum- scoring with a bullet header from eight yards out.
Speaking after the match Scepovic said: “We were able to translate what our coach told us in the dressing room into action on the pitch.”
Looking to Tuesday’s match away to Atletico Madrid he added: “We all know what it’s like to play in the Vicente Calderon stadium and it’s important for us to be going there with a victory under our belts.
After opening the season with three defeats Getafe coach Fran Escriba said: “We needed this win and I felt it was well deserved, especially for our first half performance.
“It effects players confidence when they are losing so getting a victory will give everyone a lift. Stefan did very well for us regardless of his goal, scoring so early gave the whole team a boost.
“Now we can start to prepare for Atletico on Tuesday, it’s an important match and one that we are looking forward to.”
Closer to home Stuart Findlay got the better of Darnell Fisher as Kilmarnock came from behind to beat St Johnstone 2-1. Fisher was substituted at half-time with Findlay picking up a win bonus for the second week running.
Down in the Championship Liam Henderson scored the only goal of the game as Hibs won at Livingston. Calum Waters was a late substitute as Dumbarton lost 2-1 at home to Sevco with Connor McManus and Michael Duffy helping Alloa to a 1-1 draw at home to Falkirk.
In England Eoghan O’Connell was left on the bench as interim Oldham manager David Dunn helped the Lancashire side to a 1-1 draw away to Doncaster.
Former Celtic keeper Jordan Hart enjoyed a clean sheet as Annan went to the top of League Two with a 2-0 win at Berwick Rangers.
