BBC plumb new depths for Ronny bashing

BBC_SCOTLAND_CMYKAfter publicising the thoughts of Willie Miller and Alex McLeish, in conjunction with William Hill and Ladbrokes, on Ronny Deila, the BBC have sought further expert help for the Celtic boss.

Jimmy. Calderwood.

What insight the former Aberdeen, Dunfermline, Kilmarnock and Ross County manager has on managing Celtic is difficult to fathom but with a stable of experts that includes Derek Ferguson, Craig Paterson and Alex Rae it seems that public service is a distant memory for the state broadcaster.

The best line to come out of their licence funded exclusive is the dynamic revelation that, according to Jimmy ‘That’s the way football is in Scotland.’

People from the west of Scotland and the Scottish football community know the lie of the land.

Calderwood isn’t a Celtic fan, he’s never been slow to talk up his liking for all things Ibrox related and deserves recognition for that while others duck and fly flags of convenience.

Celtic struggling will be a cause of joy for Calderwood just as the administration and liquidation of Rangers was and is a continuing source of delight for millions of Celtic supporters.

If the state broadcaster wants to discuss matters at Celtic there are numerous options that they could call upon like Paul Lambert or Neil Lennon. Neither are too difficult to contact but perhaps might not share the same thoughts as the people at the BBC who until two years ago paid James Traynor for his opinions.

Calderwood is a decent sport, he knows the Scottish game, has worked abroad and can string together a few thoughts and ideas.

If the BBC want to share his thoughts why not ask him about the situation at Ibrox on the day Pep Warburton has admitted that he will have very little to spend in January (assuming that administration is avoided).

Recalling his Dunfermline days Calderwood could explain the problems of working with a financial noose close by and tightening.

Readers, listeners and viewers can choose whether to support independent publishers and broadcasters, with the backing of the licence fee and their public service remit the BBC ought to be above scraping the barrel in publishing Calderwood’s thoughts on Deila. No name is currently attributed to this scoop.

    1. Is anyone surprised at the eminently unsuccessful collection of numpties they select for “expert opinion”?
    2. Is anyone surprised at the meaningless vacuuty of their comments?
    3. Apart from the intended ruffling of a few feathers – does anyone (apart from ra peepil) actually care?
Desperate measures call for desperate, though predictable, means. Fortunately we are not the desperate ones.
Either ignore them or read them and then have a good laugh.
We may not be perfect, but we pay our dues and win trophies along the way.

Far be it for me to comment on things bbc(see what I did there)but if every licence paying Celtic fan reneged on renewing their TV licence things would be brought out into the open re the onesided i.e. hun point of view peddled by this fair minded, straight down the middle, even handed,(tongue firmly in cheek)PUBLICLY funded organisation.dragging in every discredited bluenose who ever drew an ebt loan for their opinions on Celtic issues when there are plenty of ex Celtic identities ready to do the same, not necessarily for us but would legitimise to an extent their comments on the club.hh

I luv it the more they bash Ronnie the more the educated Celtic fans luv him HH

    • John says:

I am university educated. Ronnie’s performances in Europe have been atrocious, nothing anybody will ever say or do can change that.

      • ewanbhoy says:

ok john best you head back to ibrox……ronny has won more than he has lost in europe and he is learning all the time and will get better.
        hail hail celtic and ronny

        • John says:

Evan I am no hun. Maribor, malmo, molde Legia. His record in Europe is awful. Molde has a population of 25000. That’s less than half of Celtic Park’s capacity.

          • Jhimmy t jnr says:

The above mentioned teams are no mugs. Simple as that!
Yes we should be beating them (on paper anyway) but they’re all holding their own so I don’t think there’s any shame in the results of I’m honest.
I like Ronny and I believe he will get better – he’s also already has some decent results in Europe too which are simply overlooked due to the Ronny witch hunt.
Ronnys trying something different while giving youth a chance and looking after the finances because let’s face it, we ain’t ever gonna but European success.
A little more patience with Ronny isn’t a lot to ask for and we’ll be back in the UCL next season I believe and pumping the hunz on a regular basis too.

What has population got to do with it. Last time i looked you can sign players from anywhere. That said we still have the worst Celtic defence i can remember.

          • henkesdreadlocks says:

Well said John, as I have said many times,as many gullibles at Celtic Park as there is over at £land.

          • Charles says:

I’m sorry John but what does the population of a city have to do with how good or bad a team is?
I’m sure with five minutes of pondering I could arrive at many example to prove and disprove your theory

          • Celtical says:

Have to agree. Horrible in Europe against teams with half our budget.

  • Andy says:

    Calderwod is still alive wow

  • Shuggy says:

Jimmy told us all we need to know ,when he advised his Dunfermline team to enjoy the occasion at Ibrox, on their last day of the season game against Rangers(RIP.)

  • joe mccormack says:

Compare and contrast with the kid gloves treatment given to Super, it’s night and day.

The worst Rangers manager in history whose tactical nous when things were going wrong on the park was to fold his arms and ???? his lips.

He was hopeless, hapless and ????, all at the same time yet his pal’s in the media gave him an easy ride………right to the last.

One thing that sticks out for me since the new management team took over is that not one person in the media has attempted to analyse the differences between now as Super ‘ s era.

After all the opposition are largely the same and the transfer fees paid and wages spent are approximately the same, yet not one of our self styled journos can be ersed to compare and contrast.

Given the likes of Keevins, Jackson, Wilson, Lyndsay, Jack, Ralston, Guidi ET Al it’s hardly a surprise. Spell check must have been a god send for them all.

Where’s Chic Young when you are needing some cutting edge reporting?

As in ‘ Haw Warbs why are you so good and Ally was so sh*t.’

    • wulz says:

      Joe
Well said, the treatment of any Celtic manager to oldco or sevco, is night and day. The brotherhood don’t put the boot into their team, be it SFA or the PRESS !
