JozoCeltic fans will have to wait at least a fortnight before Jozo Simunovic makes his domestic debut.

An initial fee in the region of £3.5m was paid for the defender but after making his debut in the 2-2 draw away to Ajax he has been missing through injury.

With Efe Ambrose suspended for Sunday’s match at Hamilton Ronny Deila will again need to shuffle his defence but Simunovic is unlikely to be an option.

Hamilton’s artificial surface will probably rule out Mikael Lustig from making an appearance leaving Deila to chose from Tyler Blackett or u-19 captain Fiacre Kelleher to partner Dedryck Boyata.

Asked if Simunovic would be back for Sunday Deila admitted: “I don’t think so, still there is too much pain in his ankle.”

Dealing with the disappointment of seeing a two goal lead slip away against Fenerbahce will test the resolve of the Celtic squad.

Signing off before the international break with a win is essential with the importance of Sunday’s match not lost on the Celtic manager.

It’s very important we keep winning but we want a performance out there,” Deila stated. “Lately, offensively, we have looked more dangerous. We’ve created a lot of chances and if we continue playing at that level we know we’re going to get results.

It’s the same things every year and every week. We need to win and play good. That’s what we want to do. Whatever Aberdeen is doing, that’s up to them. We have to be consistent and get results and in the end we can be champions.”
