Zlatan IbrahimovicMikel Lustig is heading to Euro 2016.

A double from Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Sweden in the driving seat as they booked their place with a 4-3 aggregate win over Denmark.

Sweden seemed on course for a comfortable passage to France when they went 2-0 up in the first leg but an 80th minute goal from Nicolai Jorgensen gave the Dane’s hope for the return leg.

Hoops mad Ibrahimovic put that notion to bed when he connected with a low corner from Kim Källström to give Sweden the lead in the 19th minute.

With 30 minutes left to play Morten Rasmussen replaced Nicklas Bendtner but Ibrahimovic netted from a stunning free kick in the 76th minute to put the match beyond the Danes who equalised on the night thanks to late strikes from Yussef Poulsen and Jannik Vestergaard.

Lustig played the full 90 minutes as he did in the first leg on Saturday.

In tonight’s other play-off match Ukraine drew 1-1 away to Slovenia but went through on a 3-1 aggregate.

Despite the drama of those matches the evening was dominated by events off the park with the Germany v Holland friendly in Hanover called off because of a bomb threat. The match between Belgium and Spain was called off yesterday.

With the European Championships starting in seven months time UEFA issued a statement saying:

“For over three years now, Euro 2016 SAS (tournament organising committee) has been working closely with the relevant authorities to develop the most appropriate mechanisms in order to guarantee there is a safe and secure tournament and we are confident that the necessary measures will be taken to ensure that is the case for all involved.

“The Euro final draw will go ahead as scheduled on 12 December at the Palais des Congres in Paris and the final tournament will be played in France from 10 June to 10 July 2016.”
