Dutch cheat Ronald de Boer has claimed that Rangers (IL) didn’t cheat when they were fielding players that they couldn’t afford.
The deluded cheat even claimed that he chose to go to Ibrox rather than Manchester United because it was a move of the heart and nothing to do with money!
De Boer moved to Ibrox in September 2000 as a reaction to Celtic’s 6-2 win over Dick Advocaat’s All Star select.
Two months later he was joined by Tore Andre Flo from Chelsea with both players being paid through the Discount Option Scheme which Rangers (IL) admitted was tax evasion.
When Rangers went into liquidation in June 2012 Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs were owed £6m from the Discount Option Scheme which was known as the Wee Tax Case while Employee Benefit Trust’s were The Big Tax Case.
Speaking to Sky Sports news de Boer claimed: “I didn’t feel like it was cheating. If you see the other teams, they buy other players and Celtic could also buy me.
“I don’t think every player who played in Glasgow at Rangers was cheating. It didn’t feel like that. As football players, we just wanted to win titles and win every game we played.
“For me, I don’t get a feeling over me that we cheated, no. I am clean and I don’t feel responsible for what happened. At that time, I could also have gone to Manchester United but I chose Rangers. That was with my heart and not only for the money. I played with all my heart for Rangers.”
While Rangers (IL) could bring in 15 players on £1m a year from a £20m budget through their use of tax avoidance schemes with side letters detail other patriotic clubs like Celtic and Manchester United could afford 10 such players with £10 going to HMRC.
Celtic lived within their means, paying HMRC on time, in full while across the city Dave Murray stashed money into trusts to pay for de Boer, Barry Ferguson, Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, Alex Rae and dozens of others.
With HMRC having to settle for a fraction of the money owed to them from the creditors pot they may decide to seek settlement from those that benefitted while others paid their way.
If a £1m tax demand makes it way to Amsterdam it shouldn’t be too much of a hardship for de Boer to pay after the joy of playing his heart out for Rangers (IL) after starring for Barcelona.

Of course he did not think he was cheating – he was told by the board it was ok. Then why the letter? If he accepted that letter like the rest of the cheats then he must have known there was something not right. Talk about burying your head in sand. Maybe the tax boys will reprimand him while he is over here with Ajax. Now that would be fun.And he thinks Celtic miss cheats -well I for one do not miss them one little bit and the sooner they are put down and I mean out of the game completely the better. Everyone including themselves know that the club known as Rangers FC cheated Scottish football for more than a decade “that we know of” this will never be forgotten.
