Neil LennonNeil Lennon is confident that Bolton can avoid relegation into League One.

Yesterday’s 1-0 win over Blackburn was Bolton’s second win of the season but despite that dismal record they are only four points behind fourth bottom Rotherham and have a better goal difference than the two sides immediately above- Charlton and Bristol City.

Lennon found himself the target for criticism from Bolton fans after the 4-0 defeat at Rotherham on St Stephen’s Day but is hopeful that the win over Blackburn is a turning point.

There’s a quiet satisfaction among the players at the moment, they are tired but I’ve told them they have to build on it in the coming games,” Lennon told the Bolton News.

It is a small step but for the first time in a long while the fans are going home with a smile on their faces.

We are still fighting and that’s the attitude and the motivation that the players have got to have.”

He added: They come out every week in their thousands and there have been too many times they have gone home disappointed or frustrated.

There was a massive roar at the end of the game and they stayed behind to celebrate a bit, which was nice.

I’m relieved, I’m pleased for everyone associated with the club – my backroom team, the players, the board, because it hasn’t been easy the last couple of months.”

For now I want to enjoy the win, then refocus over the next couple of days and look at Huddersfield.”
