Rab DouglasRab Douglas has quit Forfar after the sacking of Dick Campbell.

The 43-year-old keeper has made 20 appearances this season but has decided to quit the club after Campbell was replaced by Gary Bollan.

Douglas was persuaded to join Forfar after a major fall out with former Dundee boss John Brown and helped the Angus side into the League One play-off’s last season.

After losing out in the play-off to Alloa they have suffered this season with Forfar sitting in eight place- six points off a play-off place and four above bottom placed Stranraer.

Earlier this year Douglas was in the headlines after being attacked on the pitch by two Airdrie United fans.

After that incident the keeper said: Banter is great fun but I don’t want fans to come on to the pitch.

Stay out of my area or if you are brave enough to come on then you have to accept what you get.

I’ll always defend myself. I’ve played over 600 games and that’s only the second time it’s happened to me. It shouldn’t happen at all.

It’s down to the fans to behave. They had given me pelters so I gave them some back when we scored the second goal and it should have been banter.

Banter is what football is all about. I usually have a good craic with the opposition fans wherever I go – Dunfermline, Ayr or anywhere else. I love being close to the fans but tell them not to come into my box. That’s when you cross the line.

It was a great win for Forfar and that’s the most important thing. But we could have done without all of that.”

Douglas is hoping to find a new club when the January transfer window opens.
