Bobby Madden was the talk of social media as he appeared to say ‘you f*** off’ to Leigh Griffiths during the Celtic v Dundee United match at Tannadice. BT Sports viewers picked up on the incident after 14 minutes.

Madden awarded a foul against Griffiths for apparently pushing at the back post. The cameras zoomed in on the striker arguing his case before turning to Madden who seemed to use industrial language to the striker.

In the 22nd minute of the match Griffiths got his own back by putting Celtic in front from a Tom Rogic pass. After taking his shirt off, but keeping hold of it, to reveal the number 50 on his t-shirt Madden decided to book the striker.

After the f-off comment Celtic fans took to twitter highlighting the behaviour of the referee.

A win tonight for Celtic will put them six points ahead of Aberdeen with the same number of games played. On Sunday Aberdeen visit Ross County with the hoops catching up on one of their postponed matches on Tuesday night when they host Hamilton Accies.

Following last week’s win away to Stranraer in the Scottish Cup Ronny Deila made three changes to his side. Craig Gordon returned from suspension to replace Logan Bailly, with Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong stepping in for Calton Cole and the suspended Nir Bitton.

Jozo Simunovic doubled Celtic’s lead in the 2th minute, powering home a header from a well placed Kris Commons free kick but United pulled a goal back four minutes later through Simon Murray.

In transfer news Hibs have agreed a deal with Celtic to take Anthony Stokes on loan until the end of the season leaving the decision upto the player whether he wants to go to Easter Road to revive his career.

Funny how BT Sport didn’t make any comment on the smoke bombs from the utd supporters just before kick off.

  • Andy the Arab says:

To be fair Griffiths got offside goal and Forrest got away with clear handball in box so can’t say Madden was anything but generous to Celtic tonight.

    • edward says:

The linesman called Celtic offside three or four times when they were not. And to be fair, a goal scored by Griffiths which was not offside was called for offside .
As we are told every time honest mistakes even themselves out .
You were easily beaten to night.

You forgot to mention Commons onside for his disallowed goal, Sheikh. Just for reporting balance.

  • Aidanmcgrath says:

Forrest hand ball in box was a penalty would it have made a difference to score no madden had a good game kept up with play just 1 or 2 dodgy decisions from linesmen

    • Andy the Arab says:

Totally agree would not have made a difference – we were poor and could not handle Griffiths movement upfront. The linesman couldnt either. Just pointing out that you it is easy to focus on decisions going against you and miss the ones going for you.

Would be better if referees got more right than wrong but I am afraid they are not that good at the moment.

Honest mistakes probably but still pretty bad mistakes. If it is a comfort I watch your mob if I am working in Glasgow, United when at home and if I am working up north I go watch Ross County. If I am honest I think they are the most hard done to of the three in games i have seen this season.

The game tonight did show why you are rightfully top and we are rightfully bottom I am afraid

Griffiths probably told Madden to F*** off and he just said, “No you F*** off. Referees take stick all the time and it’s just right that they dish it out as well.

  • kingsnake says:

It evens out: I’ve told Bobby Madden to f*** off many times …

  • owen dolan says:
