Aiden McgeadyRoberto Martinez insists that wages won’t be a factor in deciding the loan move for Aiden McGeady.

Half a dozen Championship clubs have been linked with a move for the midfielder but with Everton prepared to pay a large chunk of his wages a return to Celtic becomes more of a possibility.

McGeady is desperate to get as much game time as possible to boost his Euro 2016 chances with a loan deal to Celtic holding obvious appeal.

With one week left in the transfer window Martinez is keen strike a deal and won’t allow wages to dominate negotiations.

At the moment, there are a few options, but there has been nothing concluded about the football challenge ahead,” Martinez told the Liverpool Echo.

The most important aspect is what we are going to get from Aiden going away and playing football and in what sort of environment.

Everything else can be arranged but it is the football proposition that Aiden is going to be involved in over the next four months is what concerns the player and myself.

I don’t think we are under any sort of pressure, it is more making the right move for Aiden and seeing if that can give him a strong end to the season and prepare him for the Euros and prepare him for pre-season and take it from there.

Now, it is about taking the options, assessing them all and seeing how the next two weeks pan out to make the right call from a footballing aspect for Aiden.”

I really hope Ronnie D has as little interest in McGeady as I have. Can’t get a look in for a very poor Everton side. Little wonder only Championship sides are being touted as a possible destination….he would appear to have failed to progress despite his experiences in Russia & now England.

Celtic should be looking forwards to players who WANT to be with Celtic, looking to build a future in the game. McGeady’s time has come & gone we shouldn’t be going backwards.

Totally agree williebhoy, loved Aiden when he was a Celtic player, but its got to be in Celtics interest to,not just the players.
I want to see us develop our own players, see we are linked once again with a City player, another one i am certain that wont have a sell on clause.
What happened to the Managers statement, that we wont develop other clubs players, another load of spin.
    LOOK after CELTICs Interests PLEASE.
