Robert LewandowskiScott Brown refused to go with the flow by overlooking Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo in his vote for the 2016 Ballon D’Or.

Rather than go with the La Liga duo the Scotland skipper based his choice on Scotland’s Euro 2016 opponents with Robert Lewandowski getting his vote.

The Bayern Munich striker scored 13 goals in 10 ties as Poland finished second to Germany to book their place in France with Lewandowski the driving force throughout the campaign.

In second place Brown selected Ronaldo with another Euro 2016 opponent Thomas Muller earning Brown’s final vote.

After picking up the award for the fifth time Messi said:”It’s hard to beat what we achieved in 2015, it was a spectacular year.”

During 2015 the Argentinian Celtic fan helped Barca to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

And helped Argentina to second place in the Copa America behind Chile.
