Alan Stubbs Alan Stubbs was delighted by Hibs’ Scottish Cup win over Hearts.

A fourth minute goal from Jason Cummings earned Hibs a place in the last eight at home to Inverness Caley Thistle with loan Celts Anthony Stokes and Jason Cummings heavily involved.

Hibs were trailing 2-0 at Tynecastle with ten minutes left to play but after earning a replay Stubbs was delighted that his side completed the task.

“It is a great result for the players and the club but we had to dig deep tonight to come though,” the Hibs boss said.

“Hearts put us under pressure in the second half but we managed to contend with it and get the result we all wanted.

“I said it would be a close game, two good teams but we created the clearer chances in the game and we had to deal with some difficult balls into the box and defend properly and I knew there would be times when we would be under pressure.

“But there is no denying they are a good team. We have just beaten the third-best team in the county at this moment in time.”

On Sunday Hibs return to league business hosting Alloa as they attempt to cut back on Sebco’s eight point advantage at the top of the Championship.

Hibs play their game in hand on Wednesday when they host Morton at Easter Road with Stubbs’ side still involved in both cup competitions as well as chasing promotion.

Following the match with Morton Hibs face away days at Dumbarton and Queen of the South.
