spflFormer Celt Jason Marr scored for Alloa as Sevco dropped two crucial points at the Indodrill Stadium.

Marr headed home the opening goal in the 61st minute from a Mitch Megginson corner and was booked by referee Don Robertson for celebrating.

Four minutes later Martyn Waghorn was replaced by Kenny Miller with former England youth star Harry Forrester hooked off with Nicky Clark sent on to salvage the match.

Seven minutes from the full time whistle Micky O’Halloran equalised for the Ibrox men but Ross Jack’s collection of bus drivers, bin-men, butchers and gardeners held on to claim a 1-1 draw.

Central defender Marr was in the Celtic youth side from 2007 to 2010 and had spells with Falkirk, Ross County and Clyde before joining Paul Hartley at Alloa in 2010.

Sevco had 26 attempts on goal but with Waggers off form those chances went to waste until O’Halloran popped up with the equaliser. Loan Celt’s Conor McManus and Michael Duffy were in the Alloa side.

Before the match Mark Warburton had been highly critical of Alloa’s decision to reduce the width of the pitch.

Responding to the criticism of the former city trader Alloa chief Mike Mullraney said: “Everyone knew the rules at the start of the season and if some don’t choose to read them it’s not my issue. We waited until midway through the season, when every club had played at our ground once, before applying to change the dimensions.

It was magnanimous of us to wait until after our ninth home game in the league and if other clubs don’t like it, change the rules. We have noted the past successes of other clubs, including Rangers in Europe, in adopting such a process.

If it worked for them, why shouldn’t we follow their lead? It’s not my fault if other clubs are not reading the rules. Alloa were not successful in the first half of the season, so why wouldn’t we want to introduce changes?”

On Tuesday Sevco go to Kilmarnock for a Scottish Cup replay with the Ayrshire side winning 2-0 today away to Motherwell.

The dropped points allow Hibs to cut the gap at the top of the table down to five points with a game in hand if they can win the early evening match away to Livingston.
