Ronny DeilaJohn Hartson believes that Ronny Deila won’t be sacked immediately but can’t be given another season managing Celtic

The former hoops striker has earned a reputation for straight talking as a pundit with regular appearances on BT Sport, BBC and as a columnist in the Scottish Sun.

Like most supporters Hartson was prepared to give Deila the benefit of the doubt after a difficult first season ended with a Premiership and League Cup double.

That tide turned after the Champions League ko from Malmo with the winless Europa League campaign convincing the Welshman of the need for change.

Pundits like myself and Andy Walker are being paid to give our opinions and we do it honestly,” Hartson explained in the Scottish Sun. “But it’s the fans who get managers sacked when they stop turning up to matches.

Will Peter Lawwell soon be instructed to sack Deila? Personally I doubt it because if they were going to do it they would probably have done it by now.

But for me he cannot get another season. He’s had his chance as a nobody coming in from Norway and wasn’t capable of grabbing it.

Celtic will probably go out against East Kilbride tomorrow and wipe the floor with them.

Chances are they will then hammer Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle at home but that changes nothing.

There will be some people who will rave about the performances if that’s the way it turns out but it won’t alter a single thing.

There has to be an attitude change within that dressing room when it comes to the matches that matter.

And that’s got to come from the top. I just cannot help think that Deila isn’t capable. I predicted it at the time and take no satisfaction from being proved right. None whatsoever but Deila’s team is a failure because he is.

I’m sorry but there is just no getting away from that in my eyes.”
