SFAThe quarter-final draw for the William Hill Scottish Cup descended into farce tonight in front of a live audience watching on Sky Sports and You Tube.

After drawing Celtic away to Dundee United the next team out of the bowl was Dundee or Dumbarton when disaster struck.

SFA President Alan McRae noticed that one one of the team’s had escaped from their ‘concealed’ ball forcing the draw to be brought to a close.

There was a mix of embarrassment and hilarity around as the most straight forward of tasks, which has been rehearsed earlier, came unstuck.

After a 20 minute delay the draw was re-run with all eight options, including Dundee United and Celtic, were back in the bowl as the invited audience held their breath hoping that it would be completed without mishap.

Hearts and Hibs were first out second time around with Inverness Caley Thistle drawn as their opponents.

Celtic were next out and given a home tie with Morton with Dundee United then drawn away to Ross County.

The final tie saw Kilmarnock or Sevco drawn at home to Dundee or Dumbarton as the curtain came down on another shambles involving the SFA.

Last month the SFA came under fire for taking the East Kilbride v Celtic fifth round tie to Hamilton Accies with the Lowland League club unhappy at being kept in the dark about the decision.

Five days later Hamilton announced that New Douglas Park wouldn’t be available with Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium announced as the venue just two weeks before the tie was due to be played.
