Celtic v UMF Stjarnan - UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round First Leg

Erik Sviatchenko just can’t get enough of Tom Rogic’s last minute winner against Kilmarnock.

The Danish defender picked up a black eye during the celebrations but that feeling was numbed by picking up three points from Rugby Park.

With Aberdeen losing at Motherwell Celtic can go seven points ahead before Derek McInnes’ side are back in action with Sviatchenko delighted by Saturday’s events.

I’ve never experienced anything like that before,” the January signing said. “It was unbelievable. I said when I came here that I wanted to hear the song ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ and the fans did it.

The goal was unbelievable. I was right behind Tom and saw him turn onto his left foot and hit it. I just thought ‘Yes, it’s going in’. It was such a good strike.

It’s always close in these kind of games. Kilmarnock were eager to hold onto their opportunity to get one point but class won’t be denied, and class really came through with Tom’s left foot.”

Sviatchenko added: “It is always a relief when you score a last-minute goal. When it is a wonderful goal like that, you get such a thrill because it is so important.

You dream about scoring those goals. I haven’t seen Tom hit a better shot than that. I’ve seen some clips of similar goals, but that’s the best I’ve seen. I scored one for Denmark against France which was very good but this one was better!

The turn was unbelievable and when he struck the ball you could see it was only going one place and that was the corner of the net.

Of course I’m eager to score my first goal for Celtic but a clean sheet is something I can take from the game.”
