Beram Kayal was on the receiving end of TWO horror challenges from Joey Barton as Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley yesterday.
The top of the table clash was shown live on Sky Sports with viewers amazed to see Barton stamp on Kayal’s knee then elbow him in the face.
Despite his nice guy image on social media Barton has been dogged by poor discipline throughout his career with a string of incidents getting him into bother.
Yesterday the former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder escaped without even a yellow card as Burnley remained in place for an instant return to the top flight thanks to Michael Keane’s stoppage time equaliser.
Turning to twitter to answer hius critics Barton claimed: “Remember folks it’s a contact sport. This is not crown green bowls. lots of love JB x”

Apart from Barton’s x-rated challenges on Kayal the main talking point of the match was an effort from Keane that television cameras showed to have cleared the line but wasn’t picked up by the match officials.
With goal-line technology taken for granted in the Premier League Sean Dyche feels it’s only a matter of time before it comes into play in the second tier.
“I would be surprised over the next few years, with all that’s on offer in the Championship, we don’t see technology being drip-fed down.
“That’s no disrespect to Leagues One and Two, because I played there, but with the enormity of the Championship and the finances is generates, I would be surprised if they don’t start looking at it.
“On days like today, when it was that obvious that the ball was over the line and it doesn’t get given, you have no choice but to question the officials.
“Therefore, you obviously need help and I think it’s appropriate at this level of the market that it comes into play.”
The draw takes Burnley three points ahead of Middlesboro at the top of the table with Brighton in third place, four behind the leaders.
