Peter LawwellRonny Deila has explained why Peter Lawwell visited the Celtic dressing room after the 1-1 draw with Ross County today.

Social media went into meltdown with news that the hoops chief had gone into the dressing room after another tired home performance.

In midweek Deila announced that he’d be leaving at the end of the season with the outgoing boss confident that he’ll stay in charge for the remaining four matches.

He spoke to me, not the players,” Deila answered when he was asked about the visit to the dressing room. “We speak together all the time so it is nothing new.

“It is not like I am going to quit tomorrow. I am going to stay here for the rest of the season and do everything to get over the line and perform better than we did today. It is a special place and there are enormous demands here.

“The club has been in European finals but it is different now and there are always going to be disagreements, it is important now that when we play games we have to stay together.”

The draw takes Celtic nine points ahead of Aberdeen with four matches left to play with the hoops also having a vastly superior goal difference.

A win at Hearts next Saturday would leave the Dons having to win their four remaining matches- and make up a goal difference of 36- to snatch the title.

Looking at the draw with Ross County Deila added: “You can see that in some of the confidence of the boys but this is the circumstances now. I can also understand the fans, but it doesn’t help them It is not easy to play under but it is something we have to deal with.

“We wanted a better performance than today and I am sure we will get that. I don’t think anything else more will come out this week and we can focus on Saturday.

“Now we have to stick together, work really hard, have fun in the last four games, get the best out of each other and now we know we have a lot of quality to get over the line and also in a good way.”
